<div style="text-align: center;">Owen is 20 months old.</div><br />
We've been doing Tot School steadily the past four weeks, using Carissa from the blog <a href="http://1plus1plus1equals1.blogspot.com/">1+1+1=1</a>'s awesome new <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/TotSchoolPrintables.html">Tot School Printables</a>. I didn't take many pictures of the past few weeks but I wanted to get back into blogging so I'm going to post anyway...<br />
<br />
Ok, first things first. Last week I had an organization fit and I decided to break up a lot of activities into pieces and put them into this awesome hand-me-down rainbw storage unit. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnF7WE_JD1OukYRiufah2c2lnmetgA_GRdncZxIYusQo-3ixiV0nUe0FQrhBJG4rXSadFdvXJbjrcNOvSf7BCqmiEv0lCoq9gFG63G4YqKY-Hs8_pdS8zEZ9OwXgzRDvnv4oHDtzdAjRyO/s1600/P5020150.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnF7WE_JD1OukYRiufah2c2lnmetgA_GRdncZxIYusQo-3ixiV0nUe0FQrhBJG4rXSadFdvXJbjrcNOvSf7BCqmiEv0lCoq9gFG63G4YqKY-Hs8_pdS8zEZ9OwXgzRDvnv4oHDtzdAjRyO/s320/P5020150.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>So most of the drawers have activities in them, and they are in categories, such as numbers, shapes, alphabet, letter D, colors, etc. Then I have a few other toys that I keep in mind that I want to play with intentionally with Owen during the week. So to give an idea, in the numbers bin I have a number puzzle, some number printables, number books, and if I had number toys they would be in there too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ7G57lN-aXRKR8BUZv0MuGjvigxb656BHo_RBfZGzW3T8pAYsw5fe2H9Yejj7O9GqZTnAfJMxIsGMXqVjaqbFDUHsA18NefDtVsXrFk8hrA839lTpUmALrEnw50EEDdeCVOLM6hripW5_/s1600/P5020152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZ7G57lN-aXRKR8BUZv0MuGjvigxb656BHo_RBfZGzW3T8pAYsw5fe2H9Yejj7O9GqZTnAfJMxIsGMXqVjaqbFDUHsA18NefDtVsXrFk8hrA839lTpUmALrEnw50EEDdeCVOLM6hripW5_/s320/P5020152.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Owen loves this more than I expected and he keeps running back to the cart and rifling through it trying to find something to do. What is surprising is that what he likes most are the printables that I have put in sheet protectors. He uses a washable dry erase marker to color them. Either he or I will point to the different elements on the page and say what they are and then he will color them. This is a picture from today, not last week, just to give you an idea of what I am talking about. (He likes Carissa's vocab pages the best!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyeNrQEBsnYTyQvuuTyywZtk6o57XnqtEwp8eX-18mfRONC1USJkQiOA-X6hxSEbN9XC7Zw8glodIpTRXYozTwzttxm1xYVn8xBQGb-3AlhxtoVaodS9hVZv5aCDyMV7zfMNVtjxH76iL7/s1600/P5020139.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyeNrQEBsnYTyQvuuTyywZtk6o57XnqtEwp8eX-18mfRONC1USJkQiOA-X6hxSEbN9XC7Zw8glodIpTRXYozTwzttxm1xYVn8xBQGb-3AlhxtoVaodS9hVZv5aCDyMV7zfMNVtjxH76iL7/s320/P5020139.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
We tend to spend 30-60 minutes on Tot School, right after Daddy leaves for work. It depends on Owen's attention span, sometimes he is crazy into it and sometimes he is just all over the place. Some of Carissa's items are still a bit advanced for him so we try them every once in a while and then go back to the stuff he is comfortable with. <br />
<br />
We have a little Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree that Owen puts a letter on each week<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqUF-U6_T_NvddRbYy_kn9OlKQ3mXMAvXJt1mhyphenhyphenc4z5n1iRIVp2C9iCSIYpKCm8MXv4BRm0P5sheJ6x_6aVGbXWBIUPtaWdNMXucyoFIm51kn1XSiuufruGWeH3vH5kPK0y66kBpL_pEcw/s1600/P5020155.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqUF-U6_T_NvddRbYy_kn9OlKQ3mXMAvXJt1mhyphenhyphenc4z5n1iRIVp2C9iCSIYpKCm8MXv4BRm0P5sheJ6x_6aVGbXWBIUPtaWdNMXucyoFIm51kn1XSiuufruGWeH3vH5kPK0y66kBpL_pEcw/s320/P5020155.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
and I also check out Jane Moncure's Sound Box books every week so we read about the particular letter we are looking at. I highly recommend these books, they are awesome and he loves them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdDch7LRxHrIvM78wjAE2TWuQxLQIIjdMG_bxPUtvyqPxIcT-2VUfVs9r3huIE6-vnNvBVcveB3XNnlAR04ClF5nMYxZneluw5J7h_YoYs81h-hcqIft213ELVyOvZWoVJw2rOurEkYyHb/s1600/P5020154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjdDch7LRxHrIvM78wjAE2TWuQxLQIIjdMG_bxPUtvyqPxIcT-2VUfVs9r3huIE6-vnNvBVcveB3XNnlAR04ClF5nMYxZneluw5J7h_YoYs81h-hcqIft213ELVyOvZWoVJw2rOurEkYyHb/s320/P5020154.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We do lots of coloring, which I love because Owen is adorable and announces what color he is using or wants to use. Mostly brown and pink. "Color Brown!" "Color Pink"<br />
<br />
The other big thing we did this week was our "sensory table." A couple weeks ago we bought this sand/water table from Aldi but its been too cold to put it outside. We played with it as a train table for a few days then I put cheerios and froot loops in it and he has been having fun doing scooping and playing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhJ8IdoBvNXpD3EoNYBIs_M0gqaABEM0rDQfktdb8jMHCt4NFckSK8yGmXM_qLn6KnCkqYfVXxAw-n_M6iXgI-dlsl7oARBnZxcb_VFdTA21I6tmP1Y996_mfAngNXORPgYtbakmlN-iag/s1600/P5020147.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhJ8IdoBvNXpD3EoNYBIs_M0gqaABEM0rDQfktdb8jMHCt4NFckSK8yGmXM_qLn6KnCkqYfVXxAw-n_M6iXgI-dlsl7oARBnZxcb_VFdTA21I6tmP1Y996_mfAngNXORPgYtbakmlN-iag/s320/P5020147.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Owen has also started to get more into pretend play this past week, driving cars all over the house and playing with his Little People sets instead of just saying what the animals are. (I want a play kitchen!!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisU3AzdCf1Y70CYbgDwPGNANiFIzHBwCisPbLSo-eIVpP958IWI3iUTDH5CjL9uZy2_yi7fYBaXFPmpYtlCpqq2LaGtTQjyQGrq_yHHCQR7eP_LBmGrVXTL98O82mebsRvPv-CQM39Vie7/s1600/P4230089.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisU3AzdCf1Y70CYbgDwPGNANiFIzHBwCisPbLSo-eIVpP958IWI3iUTDH5CjL9uZy2_yi7fYBaXFPmpYtlCpqq2LaGtTQjyQGrq_yHHCQR7eP_LBmGrVXTL98O82mebsRvPv-CQM39Vie7/s320/P4230089.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Oh the other big hit is <a href="http://www.starfall.com/n/level-k/index/load.htm?f">Starfall.com</a> . Owen is constantly asking for it but I only do it once a day. I let him choose what letters he wants to look at and then we click through them. We also sing the song for the Leapfrog Letter Factory song (we don't have that video but we checked it out from the library once) and I often hear Owen singing "The B says Buh" etc. But I highly recommend Starfall.com! Its awesome.<br />
<br />
I kind of feel like this whole post sounds like its very "teachy" over here, but the truth is that Owen pretty much knows the alphabet and numbers, colors and shapes already, so we are just having a bit of fun with it in a way that adds more structure to our day. When he gets bored or disinterested we stop. <br />
<br />
Oh, in other news, I am pregnant and we found out we are having a boy! The other day Owen came up to me and started hugging my tummy and saying "Hi baby tummy" and touching it and waving. awww, so cute ;)<br />
<br />
Ok so now that we are kind of caught up, next week I will try to do a more detailed post of what we actually do ;) Check out the <a href="http://1plus1plus1equals1.blogspot.com/2011/05/tot-school-letter-ff.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+blogspot%2FXQbU+%281%2B1%2B1%3D1%29&utm_content=Google+Feedfetcher">1+1+1=1 website</a> for more Tot School Posts from mamas across the webalisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-51786951063924105992010-12-21T10:46:00.000-06:002010-12-21T10:46:15.481-06:00ABC'sOwen has been showing an interest in the alphabet since we checked out <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Sleepy-Little-Alphabet-Bedtime-Story/dp/0375840028"><u>The Sleepy Little Alphabet</u> by Judy Sierra</a> a couple of weeks ago.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhic_XbnfVqihJr66jBn9l76iqMqBRR-tb_wxjk2YIU0Z8HxrrYZB9Kxi7dHpSTGsfznMpb7RfYLMW01ca_qO17_AGMiLYmhTQRqpnY0J2ONdLjiqkufq9riV_E6cqCoykffdgIys4Vp9wf/s1600/51rHgjn459L._BO2%252C204%252C203%252C200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click%252CTopRight%252C35%252C-76_AA300_SH20_OU01_.jpg" /></div>I love this book! It is so cute. The parents (uppercase letters) are trying to put their kiddies (lowercase letters) to bed. The story is short and sweet with an easy cadence "Uh Oh! <b>a</b> is wide awake and <b>b</b> still has a bath to take!". Best of all, though, are the illustrations. Neither Owen nor I tire of looking at the pictures. When we first got this book, we just read through the story several times (always culminating with singing the ABC song.) Now, he wants to point at all the letters and find out what they are, which is pretty fun. This is definitely a great alphabet book for the younger ones. And can I say its also just so cute to hear him try and say "alphabet?" ;)<br />
<br />
So we have been trying to reinforce his interest in the alphabet by doing different activities, singing the alphabet song, etc. I started a felt alphabet book (I ran out of glue, it only goes to D, but I do plan to just slowly add to it anyway).<br />
<br />

So far we have A, B and Y(his favorite). I plan on adding Z today since he seems to like that one. When he walks by, he will point to them or say their name or take them down and play with them. He was surprised and excited to see the letter Y show up yesterday. <br />

Check out her blog post <a href="http://tiredneedsleep.blogspot.com/2010/02/abc-upper-and-lower-case-matching-cards.html">here</a>. We use them more like flash cards, though. Flash cards aren't for everyone,but Owen loves them! He plays with them all the time, looking at the pictures and naming them. He shows me the ones he doesn't know and I tell him what it is... He could play with them all day, so these are really fun for him . He gets excited by the animal pictures on them. (our favorite flash cards are the touch and feel ones, they are so awesome, check them out <a href="http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=dk+touch+and+feel+flashcards&x=0&y=0">here</a>)<br />

Owen now wants to get on the computer anytime I am on it. He says A! A! Because he wants to see the letter A. We only go through a couple of them at a time, like we usually do A, B, C and then sometimes ones like Y, Z or O. Its a pretty fun website, you should check it out!<br />
<br />
There are so many alphabet resources out there. Most of them have ideas that seem too advanced for Owen, but I look at them constantly anyway. Here are some of the links I can think of right now I know there are a ton of others, I will try to think of them.<br />

Its not just the holidays, but everything. So posts have been a little sparse this past week, and I have a couple I hope to get out before Christmas, and then will take a week or two off while we are in Chicago. (just to give you a heads up).<br />
<br />
Anyway, even though this might be a little late for you to replicate by Christmas, I am going to show you a quick and easy (sloppy? don't notice all the glue gun messes, please!) busy book I made for my neice. My mother in law has the hardest time keeping my niece and nephew quiet during church and there is no nursery. So I decided to make my niece a busy book, hopefully it will help! I'm not sure what would occupy her, she is nearly three but a little behind developmentally... And I have zero understanding of kids that are not the same age as Owen.. Not sure if this will be fun or not. <br />
<br />
This was pretty much made with felt and hot glue, each page has a pocket to keep all the pieces in.<br />
<br />
The cover, I glued on pipe cleaners, which was easier than cutting out letters but made a big ole mess<br />

(ha, I just looked back at hers and realize I kind of made mine into Crazy-Town.. as my husband says "um, it sure is busy..") Anyway, I think Owen will love it:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj_49VnhW1QAj-oiDmaf4aFEFYhb5ae1XK-YoKbvLChFuoQku1i4DJKafNIzpeKvqfhWQ1CoQEjTMrNIOronf_QtFxiwoD4f_GR1i_uqI62vyafwWRH08ZSimWP86ejWFBPfrtLCqmz8cF/s1600/PC140233.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgj_49VnhW1QAj-oiDmaf4aFEFYhb5ae1XK-YoKbvLChFuoQku1i4DJKafNIzpeKvqfhWQ1CoQEjTMrNIOronf_QtFxiwoD4f_GR1i_uqI62vyafwWRH08ZSimWP86ejWFBPfrtLCqmz8cF/s320/PC140233.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I wanted to just keep filling it in, adding more animals and trees and stuff and my husband just told me "stop." Probably a good idea :)<br />

I am so glad its done! But don't let my impatience deter you from making this... Mine is kind of big, you could do one the size of a card table that would be awesome, and just add a little bit at night for the next week or so and you would have an awesome pressie for your kid! A Girl and a Glue Gun also has good ideas for <a href="http://kimboscrafts.blogspot.com/2010/07/felt-mat-girl-style.html">girl themed mats!</a><br />

Its Friday! I'm so glad I committed to making more felt food, with the holidays coming up I have way too many projects going on and this one is kind of going to the wayside. But I still figured out how to make an orange slice and I wanted to share it with you. There are a few very lovely fancy orange slice tutorials out there (see <a href="http://helpinglittlehands.blogspot.com/2010/02/felt-orange-sections-oranges-part-1.html">here</a> and <a href="http://thinkingmama.wordpress.com/2009/04/05/felt-orange-slices/">here</a>, but when I started this project I was still hand sewing (but my machine is back now!) and I couldn't get those slices to look cute, so I thought I would just do a plain old orange.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6cqHmSuknrv0QbfYCCzUlJGWMoZCPeTODI8BnFQEW2lPA4eC_yvQx4DK6I2O3qnFGRUziitrFxoBijQbvS-NVoRDO6q4Zb1vlIAfvY2Qvi8q60VnaMVojwV9RR314CDSBYyxgr2l0A6An/s1600/PC090185.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6cqHmSuknrv0QbfYCCzUlJGWMoZCPeTODI8BnFQEW2lPA4eC_yvQx4DK6I2O3qnFGRUziitrFxoBijQbvS-NVoRDO6q4Zb1vlIAfvY2Qvi8q60VnaMVojwV9RR314CDSBYyxgr2l0A6An/s320/PC090185.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>You can make this by hand or by machine. In addition to the needle/thread you will need:<br />
orange felt<br />
paper and pen<br />
pins<br />
something to stuff the orange with<br />
<br />
First create your pattern. I traced around a soup can. You will need one circle and one pointy oval that is a bit bigger than the can. To give some perspective, my circle was about 3" across and the oval 4 1/4", however the oval was slightly too long, which I easily remedied by trimming the end during the pinning process.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3YlUd2GoQKurKMER0vbineg16gqT3pAy_3Z8s9Y46s2qv4AzjB_B3h_TgvJ56OhYvSQIN7KxB4P73wnMAH5T_h2gwc1bysa0gxsu3L5jn4g1oPMILAslfNpehld3PiZfe8-W23mKx-9ME/s1600/PC090173.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3YlUd2GoQKurKMER0vbineg16gqT3pAy_3Z8s9Y46s2qv4AzjB_B3h_TgvJ56OhYvSQIN7KxB4P73wnMAH5T_h2gwc1bysa0gxsu3L5jn4g1oPMILAslfNpehld3PiZfe8-W23mKx-9ME/s320/PC090173.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Cut out your shapes. Leave about a quarter inch for seam allowance.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnYfbXEntX8LknU6k1R-9Ho64ftqRjdYhH9MD9slrrQ1CQXWDziE6WHl6zkwz78yXo2TA8MWa9PkXGtw45rlZaAce8Iv5UIqegUFR7vCzi-BJVPET7RhjrgMtja_aOiIvLsBSAkKZsjAal/s1600/PC090176.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnYfbXEntX8LknU6k1R-9Ho64ftqRjdYhH9MD9slrrQ1CQXWDziE6WHl6zkwz78yXo2TA8MWa9PkXGtw45rlZaAce8Iv5UIqegUFR7vCzi-BJVPET7RhjrgMtja_aOiIvLsBSAkKZsjAal/s320/PC090176.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Find the middle of each piece and pin them together.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnSnfxfJwloTMdW_hP08_zxeOZCHnTbM1poXfXHBE5Mc5NSERz4cxnQjUx3TCXQXjw8J6hYAdYs1xS18ch0e3Ej14MNAT28Ssdw_GLniUOKzAriQG0EAgJLxPLPh9d8j-6H6KCXd3XRS-A/s1600/PC090177.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnSnfxfJwloTMdW_hP08_zxeOZCHnTbM1poXfXHBE5Mc5NSERz4cxnQjUx3TCXQXjw8J6hYAdYs1xS18ch0e3Ej14MNAT28Ssdw_GLniUOKzAriQG0EAgJLxPLPh9d8j-6H6KCXd3XRS-A/s320/PC090177.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Continue to pin around the orange and sew. I would show this completely pinned but apparently not being able to use your sewing machine for a year causes you to lose all your supplies... all I could find were four pins. I stopped sewing before I got to the 2nd pointy end so I could make sure my fabric was lined up right.<br />

I used the batting of an old couch pillow, you can use pretty much anything. Close it off with a <a href="http://www.associatedcontent.com/video/11362/how_to_make_a_blind_stitch_or_blind.html?cat=24">blind stitch</a>. I am not showing a picture of this because I am bad at it.<br />

This past weekend I came up with an easy idea to make slippers that I thought I would share with you. Owen had a pair of fleece footie pajamas that the zipper had broken on. So I turned them into slippers. My sewing machine is in the repair shop so I used the glue gun, but it would be much better to sew them, and I plan on doing so once I get my machine back.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLXd-WC0G2mxT7kmAZ2fve3jiauMFP9-OEtrC0w38rwz2JHrb3th9O4o8_ZqMUTLFUewxiFsqJ0ZPRiZGs9R_WKCKbxlj0o-TLt9jdCFI-yuXTKMoMns7fmc-emq1_Y9Jft2jn4kM7Wjhk/s1600/PC040046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLXd-WC0G2mxT7kmAZ2fve3jiauMFP9-OEtrC0w38rwz2JHrb3th9O4o8_ZqMUTLFUewxiFsqJ0ZPRiZGs9R_WKCKbxlj0o-TLt9jdCFI-yuXTKMoMns7fmc-emq1_Y9Jft2jn4kM7Wjhk/s320/PC040046.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Before:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJmAg0PPnW1q67Mko_S4l-HJS2g7iRczPrKHVX3wokcBybYQKFVl4wz1p4EulnbS0b72my7qPkEJs93otKcUPGx4V3sAabgA5JKZnwr3TTt1LqlKW9W2m91mszD7-y756Gvf6Jdbkh3Gpp/s1600/PC040023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="202" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJmAg0PPnW1q67Mko_S4l-HJS2g7iRczPrKHVX3wokcBybYQKFVl4wz1p4EulnbS0b72my7qPkEJs93otKcUPGx4V3sAabgA5JKZnwr3TTt1LqlKW9W2m91mszD7-y756Gvf6Jdbkh3Gpp/s320/PC040023.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
First cut the feet off of a pair of pajamas. Leave several inches at the top, so it looks like a boot.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ojcmKl757nDsGhknB5T7olpj182If-x0-ZIn6VDMM28Ed2-u7nZNgnhusZd_MLEgNblqXEmxjT37yUByZDXwuj7K2xdATW7rFxyTW55wNApKgW2Nfdphc3QhVEDGxbo16VouRAnUu0qO/s1600/PC040025.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="207" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6ojcmKl757nDsGhknB5T7olpj182If-x0-ZIn6VDMM28Ed2-u7nZNgnhusZd_MLEgNblqXEmxjT37yUByZDXwuj7K2xdATW7rFxyTW55wNApKgW2Nfdphc3QhVEDGxbo16VouRAnUu0qO/s320/PC040025.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Second, cut strips of the fleece (or use another fabric) long enough to wrap around the ankles of your child. I didn't measure, and I should have, mine were too short at first. I also found that my fleece had less stretch when I cut vertical strips (but they didn't look as cute with the pattern...)<br />
<br />
Sew (or glue) velcro to the strips. Make sure that you are attaching the velcro to opposite sides of the fabric. Put the loop velcro on the front of your strip and the hook velcro on the back of your fabric.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC2R6uSM-uIlJN9dyIzHR_D1F7pBuW9lXn5Zgb0e1xEZGHavZIurnRUsNOXV5GJP7O_f7N_QwBcChyFUvrV2UzEAR8nxkutNOHr8IFBTCpUWOTC3v46GKlgLrIbnubPRlw8liEA9gf7FfR/s1600/PC040027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC2R6uSM-uIlJN9dyIzHR_D1F7pBuW9lXn5Zgb0e1xEZGHavZIurnRUsNOXV5GJP7O_f7N_QwBcChyFUvrV2UzEAR8nxkutNOHr8IFBTCpUWOTC3v46GKlgLrIbnubPRlw8liEA9gf7FfR/s320/PC040027.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
If one of the legs of your slipper has a zipper in it, stitch it closed.<br />
<br />
Attach the strip to the back of the slipper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX1gQDYvoOjBBbSxIcL-ne5C6dsBHJIYDitNBjE1oISO4_9fLj9jiLZfKaxN7Do4I9xAePfzBzOnyWfyhO5mRTY8ZHrhq_lVeVZoOIyKOjYzDhvyA4kr1O6sDboBbdGsj30MWA-sRZ5AE9/s1600/PC040028.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX1gQDYvoOjBBbSxIcL-ne5C6dsBHJIYDitNBjE1oISO4_9fLj9jiLZfKaxN7Do4I9xAePfzBzOnyWfyhO5mRTY8ZHrhq_lVeVZoOIyKOjYzDhvyA4kr1O6sDboBbdGsj30MWA-sRZ5AE9/s320/PC040028.JPG" width="212" /></a></div>And thats it! Wrap the strip around your child's ankle and secure the slipper in place. Fold the top over and you are all done. My son, who takes his socks off constantly has not removed these once. Although maybe your child is more of a genius than mine...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWmz_hj9l1MNk24AmYPYW1dPRbIQNlFLD9fp239xG6KuVwLNKOe8f6vNEjosXd9FtpTOEyklzrDsUudKaHTV-RuEuI65egViBQeYnxj9egIWbco-KbCKPHBZJkMx21cjuNxDnLh4mwT2RR/s1600/PC040058.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWmz_hj9l1MNk24AmYPYW1dPRbIQNlFLD9fp239xG6KuVwLNKOe8f6vNEjosXd9FtpTOEyklzrDsUudKaHTV-RuEuI65egViBQeYnxj9egIWbco-KbCKPHBZJkMx21cjuNxDnLh4mwT2RR/s320/PC040058.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Also--now that you have your materials out, you should get out your child's mittens and make strips for those too! I did, and it would have been awesome, but 1) they were too long and 2) the glue did not hold because of all the stretching. But once my sewing machine is back in business I will definitely make some ;)<br />

Well a lot of things, my son thinks ;)<br />

I had thought he would love it because of how much he liked to throw fall leaves but I was mistaken. Still, we had our good moments, like when he realized that he could see through the bags and wanted to sing the peekaboo song.<br />

I found the idea for this activity <a href="http://bkids.typepad.com/bookhoucraftprojects/2010/05/rainy-day-newspaper-play-by-kristen-sutcliffe-from-new-house-projectthis-is-more-of-a-rainy-day-activity-than-a-craft-projec.html">here</a>. Oh, and also only use the plastic bags if you are going to be supervising your child! I just added them in because we don't get the paper so we had very little of it in the garage, but had tons of plastic bags that my inlaws always seem to give us.<br />
<br />
I also made up a sensory box (in this case, I almost think its just another term for "junk...") I tossed tons of stuff in there, mostly game pieces--from Rummikub, Dominoes, Sequence, Mancala, Scrabble, plus shape beads, cotton and pompoms, clothesmpins and a couple shiny plastic ornaments for good measure.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXyVY1IdM24WNpdr0iTQHVmEKCp97woZRUCe0k0_jVTIsTySALWiCiiaKVCxqEqxFmDFpjWMj7m6_vxNFnXw39TP2FfFXvuJX7Kt_rpvmY-4a2S55q5jRAEaflG1QQygkd_PdW2t_DkeTn/s1600/PC070118.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXyVY1IdM24WNpdr0iTQHVmEKCp97woZRUCe0k0_jVTIsTySALWiCiiaKVCxqEqxFmDFpjWMj7m6_vxNFnXw39TP2FfFXvuJX7Kt_rpvmY-4a2S55q5jRAEaflG1QQygkd_PdW2t_DkeTn/s320/PC070118.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I set it out with tons of containers, spoons, cups, etc. and let my son get to work. He did a lot of stirring and scooping and in general, had a great time! I am sure we will get it out again tomorrow.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivVptDtz6iOBVa_s-ndtjiw0LO2MUZw3WJEfrljwGW5ECnXVhKMwVMRyfD-XcAXpFo9L7m7kab49peM7LvivUcpQOtbyy0jtcRRo1bS2l_AjF7LJk0QyG1TyJEHTc3BhnM3NzBtOOJ9VoA/s1600/PC070121.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEivVptDtz6iOBVa_s-ndtjiw0LO2MUZw3WJEfrljwGW5ECnXVhKMwVMRyfD-XcAXpFo9L7m7kab49peM7LvivUcpQOtbyy0jtcRRo1bS2l_AjF7LJk0QyG1TyJEHTc3BhnM3NzBtOOJ9VoA/s320/PC070121.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
He is currently into stars since we put up the tree, so we set about to do a star collage. He has helped make these in the past but this time his helping equated to him continuously getting his hand stuck on the paper.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqqNdt5T1Xw-CjA9_vnD06rK9F39rrW6iRDe1SbT5utdcA18cSpfENI1OTQBRM1zhd-dTTjh3NLA6eUG1IQZH9r_dWn-132csgQHUldXBCzVW-9BkK0UUb0ZYuQQGdfiaknG0a8gQ3KqoL/s1600/PC070131.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqqNdt5T1Xw-CjA9_vnD06rK9F39rrW6iRDe1SbT5utdcA18cSpfENI1OTQBRM1zhd-dTTjh3NLA6eUG1IQZH9r_dWn-132csgQHUldXBCzVW-9BkK0UUb0ZYuQQGdfiaknG0a8gQ3KqoL/s320/PC070131.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>So I pretty much made the whole thing, but it was worth it later because he keeps picking it up and starting to dance, his signal that he wants me to sing twinkle twinkle little star. so cute!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIzYCVdFf3H7nYrVlDvpHqSf0qKqKKHYyLmfmoEEoW5Jg4Mqmhyphenhyphen6XKsWlGFM8GYIyhvoPwtf9JeV9ZNmFKXkbJBxlgUA-t03QuAEA0WrON31MHGyzQbzj9C7Q05aX4qeS5TJpy_84wYYad/s1600/PC070140.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIzYCVdFf3H7nYrVlDvpHqSf0qKqKKHYyLmfmoEEoW5Jg4Mqmhyphenhyphen6XKsWlGFM8GYIyhvoPwtf9JeV9ZNmFKXkbJBxlgUA-t03QuAEA0WrON31MHGyzQbzj9C7Q05aX4qeS5TJpy_84wYYad/s320/PC070140.JPG" width="249" /></a></div><br />
One final thing I did, in a fit of randomness, I decided to cut stars out of scrap paper and I taped them up all over the living room. It took a while, but he eventually noticed them and has been having fun taking them down, looking at them, and then "pat, pat, pats" them back onto the wall (which is what we say when we make the collages).<br />
<br />

Well, maybe it wasn't even the activities, but that he loves the Brown Bear book and he seriously played with all the little shapes and cards all week long. They were constantly all over the house and some of them are still MIA. So I thought I would come up with some more activities and make a Tot Book for him.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLWZXZyu5xPV5vFsE7Av2yKcKpmyyE-ogIVush69PXTy8Ogwb2chCUpRotL1kG7CIhZJNdPHPM-YMDzHwmKZaX3rzIMQ50erTrf6bF4fG0_k6vqkZEkbfyxfDkOG-W8UsQfVgC3ZMT7n4d/s1600/PC050088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLWZXZyu5xPV5vFsE7Av2yKcKpmyyE-ogIVush69PXTy8Ogwb2chCUpRotL1kG7CIhZJNdPHPM-YMDzHwmKZaX3rzIMQ50erTrf6bF4fG0_k6vqkZEkbfyxfDkOG-W8UsQfVgC3ZMT7n4d/s320/PC050088.JPG" width="256" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi1uvoXqsWn5GMuYUlJ4p713sqpEpG0O5wpPjbvLxfJqwONqWtu3SZ0kxRsp3YOSd5T7zn4sTV2IiZWPg3ZYLBU_RQaUCEb5B0tyIieh7BGgn3j1NliLRNqibAe7N3nRT4FxwZMIuX5Uxa/s1600/PC050090.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhi1uvoXqsWn5GMuYUlJ4p713sqpEpG0O5wpPjbvLxfJqwONqWtu3SZ0kxRsp3YOSd5T7zn4sTV2IiZWPg3ZYLBU_RQaUCEb5B0tyIieh7BGgn3j1NliLRNqibAe7N3nRT4FxwZMIuX5Uxa/s320/PC050090.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Pretty much all of the ideas shown are printables from <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/BrowBearBrownBear.html">1+1+1=1</a> (except for the small red piece on the left--that just says My Name on the outside and Owen on the inside). I had a lot of fun putting this together, and I guess I imagined I would take it out and we would sit down and look at the different parts of it together. You know, in a civilized, <i>adult </i>manner. Well, this is what happened immediately<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibFyTQafBcWG6454ZfVCBgdJj_LSV0KTCcX7Rwx8q931Iffgzw1USCjpy0iIedZTnZLHwDjs4dSZErpyq7J6cixpGzy2xVsKZuiS7YrJHKlHQ4npWdR-AHcnp7ZiEkMYSMMtPq5ewK-mRA/s1600/PC060093.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibFyTQafBcWG6454ZfVCBgdJj_LSV0KTCcX7Rwx8q931Iffgzw1USCjpy0iIedZTnZLHwDjs4dSZErpyq7J6cixpGzy2xVsKZuiS7YrJHKlHQ4npWdR-AHcnp7ZiEkMYSMMtPq5ewK-mRA/s320/PC060093.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Followed by this<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYNGWs1FPWn8imjWAUypH1KovC_sqIwIIUQ8tipcx4HceUzfnTHtsv3vdu2RwB39wlpwyQK9aI_TTXnhCzBQkq-ItySnpx9W8Nuex4IYL8SAyQre1KQ68VsLIqnwUZF_4BylwZJtHua-8J/s1600/PC060094.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYNGWs1FPWn8imjWAUypH1KovC_sqIwIIUQ8tipcx4HceUzfnTHtsv3vdu2RwB39wlpwyQK9aI_TTXnhCzBQkq-ItySnpx9W8Nuex4IYL8SAyQre1KQ68VsLIqnwUZF_4BylwZJtHua-8J/s320/PC060094.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And I have to admit, I was totally overwhelmed. So I would imagine Owen was too. Suddenly there was <i>too much stuff</i>. It was everywhere. I could hardly sort my thoughts (although I must admit that "stuff" easily overwhelms me). So at first I gave up (haha. typical). I just let him do his thing. Then I slowly rounded up the different elements and took them out of the mix and we looked at some of the different parts by themselves.<br />
<br />
Surprisingly, he really likes the ABC sheet. Its a fun accordian piece. He has been carrying it all over the house. Sometimes he wants to talk about the animals on it and sometimes he wants me to sing the song, which he tries to sing along to. I tried to take a pic of him running around with it but he moves too fast ;)<br />
<br />
He also loves the Looking At Me mini-book and the Heads and Tails cards, although he doesn't really get that the cards are supposed to be put together, he just likes to look at the pieces and name them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGxgsIjvSEgotat9-P3bq5J6J5d7Sx11emHHiJOdpEGhqIJzblz_An-z0BHBNbz7mOr-63MdoEMfZTJRkmrL2wqBIM3-HzUKaavjMIG8E2Ub65vOHaEBvXVd1iEWIkceyoFpNKDfrhwys4/s1600/PC060105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGxgsIjvSEgotat9-P3bq5J6J5d7Sx11emHHiJOdpEGhqIJzblz_An-z0BHBNbz7mOr-63MdoEMfZTJRkmrL2wqBIM3-HzUKaavjMIG8E2Ub65vOHaEBvXVd1iEWIkceyoFpNKDfrhwys4/s320/PC060105.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>I had pulled out this <a href="http://www.makinglearningfun.com/themepages/BrownBearShadowMatchingActivity.htm">shadow game</a> knowing it would be too complicated. Owen liked looking at the shadows and playing with the pieces, although not together ;) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhbx5yKhj8fooULluEiHfVTmrcEVXrRVDLHa7EvD8zNnfEgbXKKIaO5Wc1EDLJVRLbn1xcTe90vQIPHPdihi9fGVX4y6agKvOruRYqo1iFVIEapAB_RqGTq5aGTS2ou7tB4scDdKVKcx82/s1600/PC050092.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="193" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhbx5yKhj8fooULluEiHfVTmrcEVXrRVDLHa7EvD8zNnfEgbXKKIaO5Wc1EDLJVRLbn1xcTe90vQIPHPdihi9fGVX4y6agKvOruRYqo1iFVIEapAB_RqGTq5aGTS2ou7tB4scDdKVKcx82/s320/PC050092.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>He actually came up with his own game when he saw <a href="http://www.makinglearningfun.com/themepages/BrownBearMMsorting.htm">this sorting sheet</a> where the animals were in color, and made his own matching game. He didn't get every one right, but he would lay down some of the cards on to the right pictures. It was a much better game than the ones I came up with.<br />
<br />
So now I think I will keep most of this stuff out of sight and bring out one at a time to play with. Mostly he just does free play with the different shapes which is fine by me, I interrupt every once in a while. And if you didn't know (cause I didn't) there are several other related books, Panda Bear, Panda Bear what do you See? Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you Hear? and Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What do you See? some of them seem a bit more advanced to me, but Owen loves them just the same and we have been reading them constantly.<br />
<br />

I decided to go with stars, because Owen didn't know what a star was until we put up the tree and now he is always pointing at it and saying "star." And then the rest of the food is orange, because.. well, it just is ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2ydD2ulV1GgQe28cuvikooh69cvx_ESU133cNTx5CrJkfiPk_dU-F00bp52f-mTzvFAwSzRSXF24eJ9ZwV4mMeLJo6R2z1ykrUyNQfkoJyefIGfW9Lo_dNA5n69LlwXKzV96v7rizGWih/s1600/PC060099.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2ydD2ulV1GgQe28cuvikooh69cvx_ESU133cNTx5CrJkfiPk_dU-F00bp52f-mTzvFAwSzRSXF24eJ9ZwV4mMeLJo6R2z1ykrUyNQfkoJyefIGfW9Lo_dNA5n69LlwXKzV96v7rizGWih/s320/PC060099.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
so we have carrots, peanut butter toast, cheese crackers, apple, orange slices and cheese.<br />
And this is Owen. He took one look at the lunch and said "up! up!" lol, clearly not enthused. He still has not taken one bite, guess we will try again later...<br />

Its going to be a new feature over here, figured I might as well make it a set thing since I plan on making a bunch of it... Also I want to see what felt food YOU have made. Share with me! Hopefully this will keep me inspired to keep creating;) Hope you don't mind I am a total novice!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsBv6bdlIQE7MRK0gLHJc0VhCiamFSUsq9WpqhwRyIgzK2qSCguEXVhG71a_tKSC4gHUGKypIoc58-HUCVtcvVS7qhb2d-zI2vfGLInlulw5Bl7J0m3gbdDt1eI0pOMmxJ17Xr-LgbHSo1/s1600/PC010152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsBv6bdlIQE7MRK0gLHJc0VhCiamFSUsq9WpqhwRyIgzK2qSCguEXVhG71a_tKSC4gHUGKypIoc58-HUCVtcvVS7qhb2d-zI2vfGLInlulw5Bl7J0m3gbdDt1eI0pOMmxJ17Xr-LgbHSo1/s320/PC010152.JPG" width="320" /></a></div> Oh I have been in love with felt food since.. forever! I kept thinking I should make some but put it off until a later date because I didn't have the materials or I didn't have the time or my sewing machine was broken (well now its in the shop, but the sewing machine repair man said he didn't know if it could be fixed! sob, sob, this breaks my heart...) Anyway, now I have piles of felt for that car mat I keep mentioning but seldom working on so I started making food this week.<br />
<br />
I didn't really use patterns but I will share the websites I got inspiration from! First up was a pancake, inspired by <a href="http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2010/04/short-order-cook.html">Homemade by Jill</a>. I figured this would be such an easy start since its just a circle. Don't tell anyone, but I've been doing some illegal stitches... whip-stitching really tightly because its easy and I don't have the stamina for more finished, complicated stitches... Anyway, I stuffed this with one layer of fleece I had leftover from way back when I made Owen newborn diapers so I put that in. It was so easy! He was very excited.. "pancake?" until he realized it was fake, lol. But I showed him how to pretend eat it and he did a little fake chewing and "num numming" and was super adorable...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh63MJ3LLJUkcCPdZexrJDOTEovV2EK0NrCfAuEE9osNh6ixNTt4NeBrVPzGgCa9iRGCa5vsfdzZl43-TwcKOC4Zq_kvELeB_mTH_JRWqvZT20U6GHZ4diUWKMLudpmGTNTnHZK9JDjSDQS/s1600/PC010162.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh63MJ3LLJUkcCPdZexrJDOTEovV2EK0NrCfAuEE9osNh6ixNTt4NeBrVPzGgCa9iRGCa5vsfdzZl43-TwcKOC4Zq_kvELeB_mTH_JRWqvZT20U6GHZ4diUWKMLudpmGTNTnHZK9JDjSDQS/s320/PC010162.JPG" width="301" /></a></div>Since I was on a roll I made a fried egg. I don't eat eggs, but I think they kind of look like this... Making these foods is making me feel like a bad mama cause Owen doesn't know what all of them are either. Anyway, I just free-hand cut two layers of eggwhite, again stuffing it with one layer of fleece, and sewed the yolk on top. The pancake and eggs are awesomely simple intros to felt food, my friends! (oh, why didn't I make butter and syrup, you ask? Because I am mean and Owen eats his pancakes plain. So I figured he wouldn't know the difference.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPclK7ijk5NIgpPLwQWjppQa3dilQurhNzpcyjr2AdhiLJECVjX9MfR9XJ8lnhjQtfO26HTiZ0Cz3FjQtIoA8ihO_7GvcIL39cw30Q44jolHXJ3aEq6yRCfK0sRenGte6cSpslgtHlEcma/s1600/PC010160.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="249" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPclK7ijk5NIgpPLwQWjppQa3dilQurhNzpcyjr2AdhiLJECVjX9MfR9XJ8lnhjQtfO26HTiZ0Cz3FjQtIoA8ihO_7GvcIL39cw30Q44jolHXJ3aEq6yRCfK0sRenGte6cSpslgtHlEcma/s320/PC010160.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>What better to have with your pancakes and eggs than a strawberry? Also so so easy, I used this<a href="http://lbbfreestrawberry.blogspot.com/"> free pattern </a>and it took no time at all. If you don't have stuffing, find something around the house--fabric scraps, cotton balls, etc. I pillaged an old couch pillow since my husband always complains we have too many of them. Oh, I am also <a href="http://mrmonkeysuit.typepad.com/mr_monkeysuit/2008/05/felt-strawberry-tutorial.html">digging this pattern, I love the leaves on it</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO_svnUKYPUuGZuEEdiaN6yEDSavRnDo7FCh8HbVFacwPryPtzBOKtK2V3Q2W8HxR5KEsXAQ7sx_JpXIa3sPRCdPvBfz3GiBoYtqvBHERAjGL8G-A16CHc6GHGjmsrjum_0rDFoZ4Xdk5G/s1600/PC010158.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgO_svnUKYPUuGZuEEdiaN6yEDSavRnDo7FCh8HbVFacwPryPtzBOKtK2V3Q2W8HxR5KEsXAQ7sx_JpXIa3sPRCdPvBfz3GiBoYtqvBHERAjGL8G-A16CHc6GHGjmsrjum_0rDFoZ4Xdk5G/s320/PC010158.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>This carrot was basically the same idea as making the strawberry-- I used <a href="http://imakestuff.typepad.com/i-make-stuff/2009/07/how-to-felt-carrots-.html#comments">this tutorial</a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF9AHzn-opxf7qyM-F4ZI5PuKDtOwOxEHpqqiE_jbIrtd4N7sfK0sX2RN38UY9som0uw2BaHPND9DsWElEptseDhL5r1jZmKfoJdfoEU6mXNe_o78nq66s4_Ic9Rjyv7xASN7P4T4DohyphenhyphenC/s1600/PC010153.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="123" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjF9AHzn-opxf7qyM-F4ZI5PuKDtOwOxEHpqqiE_jbIrtd4N7sfK0sX2RN38UY9som0uw2BaHPND9DsWElEptseDhL5r1jZmKfoJdfoEU6mXNe_o78nq66s4_Ic9Rjyv7xASN7P4T4DohyphenhyphenC/s320/PC010153.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Then onto more difficult tasks... The banana in the peel. I took a peek at <a href="http://lyneya.wordpress.com/2009/04/30/tutorial-felt-banana-in-peel-or-corn-in-husk/">this tutorial</a> and then made my own, except I didn't have cream felt and I didn't want to line the peel because, A) waste of felt (for me, since I never get out shopping and never spend money) b) too much work! Well, my banana turned out mediocre... its overstuffed and doesn't really close properly, but you can totally tell what it is and I think its super cute!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5dgfkhTdrDQHOKSmV513ZrdJh9ectIzmk5YYDoe4D5WaVLUcZC3R2UASjnEl4C4OY1ba7dg2Zbh4G2Rot-GrxQIuj220mq_Hc4EwpNl37gE7AirKAl_43ZYP5TaAhcvsGeKyMi67PcQM/s1600/PC010161.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjS5dgfkhTdrDQHOKSmV513ZrdJh9ectIzmk5YYDoe4D5WaVLUcZC3R2UASjnEl4C4OY1ba7dg2Zbh4G2Rot-GrxQIuj220mq_Hc4EwpNl37gE7AirKAl_43ZYP5TaAhcvsGeKyMi67PcQM/s320/PC010161.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>Now I am working on orange slices and a peel... If I figure out how to get them right I will make a tutorial for next Friday..<br />
<br />
Here are some sites that have free tutorials or pictures you can get ideas from... Seems like once you get the basic ideas down then you can basically make anything--Apples, oranges, tomatoes and such all seem like they are very easy if you aren't making them to open up and have slices in them... Anyway, here are the links<br />

This project was one of them... But I'm ok with that. It was intended to be just a quick project, kind of a treat for my son that I didn't have to spend my whole life making. You see, we put up our Christmas tree this past weekend and I spent a whole afternoon feeling glum at how not cute our tree was without the breakable ornaments on it. I tried all sorts of fixes but none of them pleased me. So we scrapped that idea and just made a blockade.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsNio6SUluOC0SCy743IFSVELHDszf3L21G2eqAdxhyphenhyphentxi7PRvkLMxfnFmYn3XSR4L4DBnfTQrGW22bNNrQ_Ct2701uGDZ60ANcaHBz16exNCm0HqCliBaN9v7Mi2bmKIX0v9eBMoGhyphenhyphenkC/s1600/PB300126.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsNio6SUluOC0SCy743IFSVELHDszf3L21G2eqAdxhyphenhyphentxi7PRvkLMxfnFmYn3XSR4L4DBnfTQrGW22bNNrQ_Ct2701uGDZ60ANcaHBz16exNCm0HqCliBaN9v7Mi2bmKIX0v9eBMoGhyphenhyphenkC/s320/PB300126.JPG" width="201" /></a></div><br />
Then we put up a little tree and filled it with non-breakable ornaments we don't particularly like, as well as ornaments from our childhood.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2gmYaurbgs9w9Npyv6Ipmi9VmpSbkJn0nBDGWdKt0hAi6xyPA4oSS0ZtXYh3oXqAkujMmvEmDKOQqXACT77q5HXy4YDVHMu-NFhRZf12FKQ_Ra12NT3VkX0x_HFUtVmqwQICjuQTU82JQ/s1600/PB300123.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2gmYaurbgs9w9Npyv6Ipmi9VmpSbkJn0nBDGWdKt0hAi6xyPA4oSS0ZtXYh3oXqAkujMmvEmDKOQqXACT77q5HXy4YDVHMu-NFhRZf12FKQ_Ra12NT3VkX0x_HFUtVmqwQICjuQTU82JQ/s320/PB300123.JPG" width="136" /></a></div><br />
Two of the ornaments really stood out to him; Bert & Ernie. My grandma picked them up at a garage sale a long long time ago and they were some of my favorite ornaments as a child. He loves Sesame Street characters, his Nana and PopPop have given him tons of Sesame Street books to read. So I decided to make Owen some other Sesame Street ornaments. While I was at it, I threw in Dora and Diego as well ;)<br />
<br />
The inspiration:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl9JlHO_DieAkSiej3no2LleRojEEyN27uh28C7Y5FIRjp0FPYRo1TGSaQdQ___EdX1-c15_ertv5msH8s1BXQkXo1-dG2xNRFli05calUCKyqvrSode3ewlKMd0sJZkwOIZmiYJBvilpB/s1600/PB300120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgl9JlHO_DieAkSiej3no2LleRojEEyN27uh28C7Y5FIRjp0FPYRo1TGSaQdQ___EdX1-c15_ertv5msH8s1BXQkXo1-dG2xNRFli05calUCKyqvrSode3ewlKMd0sJZkwOIZmiYJBvilpB/s320/PB300120.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Now, like I said, I wanted to do this quick and dirty--just get it done. So there would be no sewing, no patterns, just me, some felt, and the glue gun. I googled some pics of the characters and cut out basic shapes. And, if I must say, I am terrible with a glue gun. I lack any finesse at all. So this is how they turned out:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMMA37JYch6qFjOlAsVWkU3zEszLkcxYrR5RPAMY-bWDYVY29xnD_6rYctfgwEWwoDFLtwcqTnLcAEtaFtL6IlqUHLHqs5SNCygZAFQSVB9-pk_dcTzrIui8SvJrGLaNILSoFksHFnEFVv/s1600/PB300119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMMA37JYch6qFjOlAsVWkU3zEszLkcxYrR5RPAMY-bWDYVY29xnD_6rYctfgwEWwoDFLtwcqTnLcAEtaFtL6IlqUHLHqs5SNCygZAFQSVB9-pk_dcTzrIui8SvJrGLaNILSoFksHFnEFVv/s320/PB300119.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I wasn't even sure if I should give them to him because they were <i>definitely homemade</i> but he loves them, and knew who they all were right away. Even big bird, who, in a stroke of luck, is lost, probably because Owen threw him away due to his supreme ugliness... But really, for a child, I think it is the thought that counts. He has been playing with them non-stop--I'm sure we will keep them out after the Christmas season. So I just set these on the tree, instead of hanging them, inviting him to touch and play with them, which I know he will want to do anyway. Its a great way to get him involved in Christmas and loving the tree without ruining all my precious ornaments.<br />

He loves to read books, but the amount of times he has wanted to read it each day has surpassed previous records. So in light of that, I decided to find some brown bear activites to do around the house.<br />
<br />
By far the easiest (and most entertaining for him) was making characters for the felt board. These are actually printables from <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/BrowBearBrownBear.html">1+1+1=1</a>, intended to be a puzzle, but I just cut them out, reinforced each side with clear packing tape, and taped velcro from a disposable diaper on the back. Instant felt board fun! What I like about these printables is that they actually are the same pictures used in the book, which makes it easier for my son to recognize. We have done several things with them today:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBX7sdfLIt93LdsN6bQS3G4Xj4c3qLOpnMnYCMmP8sOgxoLbg6dB98d0NVPD7IGRMtFNwvlXOmn-V5ht9JyMGhsjIddwpl6zGOdUf-4S_2q6-8mIAEkiZ1KO6rS4EHq4zyFUeUpoLa5UOX/s1600/PB300135.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBX7sdfLIt93LdsN6bQS3G4Xj4c3qLOpnMnYCMmP8sOgxoLbg6dB98d0NVPD7IGRMtFNwvlXOmn-V5ht9JyMGhsjIddwpl6zGOdUf-4S_2q6-8mIAEkiZ1KO6rS4EHq4zyFUeUpoLa5UOX/s320/PB300135.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
--he has just played with them on his own (calling them by name, making animal sounds, carrying them around the house)<br />
--I went through the whole Brown Bear schpiel with them, reenacting the book<br />
--I asked him "where is the green frog?" (etc.) and had him point at the right animal<br />
--While we were reading the book I would stop at each animal and ask him to find the cutout that matched, again, "where is the blue horse?" and he would get it for me<br />
--I tried to do a color activity with pompoms but he wasn't interested.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPOwMAarX_EXYQ3WYJZmZy3Yx4EYXMKrPT8cngCCR994JoN1HCjzyEb0rokpytl2u1nQO32B9PYpGkbdatq9cKWjHfK2QDcIK0BjA22VY4AgOKFYyT-cktV612Afae4SbXOx7c93G6Xauf/s1600/PB300139.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPOwMAarX_EXYQ3WYJZmZy3Yx4EYXMKrPT8cngCCR994JoN1HCjzyEb0rokpytl2u1nQO32B9PYpGkbdatq9cKWjHfK2QDcIK0BjA22VY4AgOKFYyT-cktV612Afae4SbXOx7c93G6Xauf/s320/PB300139.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
He seriously loves these cutouts, I have a feeling that they will get worn out even though I reinforced them!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXURgSSOGwysgeTDpBAVLXmKxQnX2Fwe0RtLpXGHJu0sioV2IJ7uX0Q-BJwQL_DiJIp-iPRPJ3gDM9pcdyzRm2P-3W6wlKGiDWcRkqf0MIVlzYy4Chz3j_D3JNkBfYPDIL5KTl8Qb1WrN0/s1600/PB300136.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXURgSSOGwysgeTDpBAVLXmKxQnX2Fwe0RtLpXGHJu0sioV2IJ7uX0Q-BJwQL_DiJIp-iPRPJ3gDM9pcdyzRm2P-3W6wlKGiDWcRkqf0MIVlzYy4Chz3j_D3JNkBfYPDIL5KTl8Qb1WrN0/s320/PB300136.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Another fun activity was that I downloaded these tiny cutouts from <a href="http://www.makinglearningfun.com/"> Making Learning Fun</a> that were intended for use in an eye spy bottle (which I made later). First, though, I put the cutouts into our rice bin but I didn't do much hiding because I wasn't sure if he would find them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggSQIFjoEXNzzQovNHfH7rAX8aT8W2Gjw-WQh5I-7S9eSkB8nnMWpfxY-waT9BeqXF4cB8Atc_fbwIi07e338xUZv2lhtTI_f4xx4cbeyY97EUAQM0gQ62UoW5RAK6vVqdHZUv2t24Hx39/s1600/PB300105.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggSQIFjoEXNzzQovNHfH7rAX8aT8W2Gjw-WQh5I-7S9eSkB8nnMWpfxY-waT9BeqXF4cB8Atc_fbwIi07e338xUZv2lhtTI_f4xx4cbeyY97EUAQM0gQ62UoW5RAK6vVqdHZUv2t24Hx39/s320/PB300105.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Owen had a lot of fun pulling out all the different characters, naming them, making noises, etc. I enjoy having him do this activity while I clean the kitchen because it keeps him occupied and in sight and I don't feel like I am being neglectful even though I am not really participating. An unintentional bonus of this was that he did less throwing of the rice since he was so into the cutouts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiitZr3ibscjeZPQNBRhLgvYuyRMREj2xZkT-gOjThyLDC9vJglJ6uZEM6TEjIMb5elVJ-DF37TE1c2rL9s6L87Z71vOofRq_dNsHm4gKFKqSX9clZFBrA1eewMqkADinCiCQAgO8VkOpo0/s1600/PB300113.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiitZr3ibscjeZPQNBRhLgvYuyRMREj2xZkT-gOjThyLDC9vJglJ6uZEM6TEjIMb5elVJ-DF37TE1c2rL9s6L87Z71vOofRq_dNsHm4gKFKqSX9clZFBrA1eewMqkADinCiCQAgO8VkOpo0/s320/PB300113.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTk6SJiuDG8yJ1PGlk0MwnUlAYXLL-GBGsqIOyrKBoqLDjeyTcQTDvBBc0wVEHT3CXlJi3SuM7DV-T68EJzSCxeP94QvCqCLRFGohq3J82JNwAWMj8ufNfe5EwI6mCXpz_RQKQT6tgRkZa/s1600/PB300115.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTk6SJiuDG8yJ1PGlk0MwnUlAYXLL-GBGsqIOyrKBoqLDjeyTcQTDvBBc0wVEHT3CXlJi3SuM7DV-T68EJzSCxeP94QvCqCLRFGohq3J82JNwAWMj8ufNfe5EwI6mCXpz_RQKQT6tgRkZa/s320/PB300115.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Next I made the eye spy bottle, and I think it is really cute, but I think that if you make it, you should print out<i> two</i> copies of the pictures because it was hard to see the animals when they were facing the wrong way. I don't know if I am explaining that right, but I plan on printing out another copy so that there is a picture on the front and back of each piece so it will be easier to play with. Otherwise I thought it was a great activity and a great idea! I have tried a bunch of times today to find the page on the <a href="http://www.makinglearningfun.com/">Making Learning Fun</a> where the list of printables came from but all I have is the link to the eye spy bottle, <a href="http://www.makinglearningfun.com/t.asp?b=m&t=http://www.makinglearningfun.com/Activities/Bears/BrownBearBrownBear/BBEyeSpyBottle/BBeyeSpy-pieces.gif">so here it is for you. </a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1KfQOWb1J-qvd3xM-li3RXLhUCMF8uXuyWs98_6Zi3xWrif7QxwASAGyvMXgvznQ7v-gMBui9kGPlQJbQq0W1A8TQ_zhiWSMbCcravdWbvxmgYdD3_FdxteGfdJDUJwaQQjEgzGVqN0Xp/s1600/PB300149.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1KfQOWb1J-qvd3xM-li3RXLhUCMF8uXuyWs98_6Zi3xWrif7QxwASAGyvMXgvznQ7v-gMBui9kGPlQJbQq0W1A8TQ_zhiWSMbCcravdWbvxmgYdD3_FdxteGfdJDUJwaQQjEgzGVqN0Xp/s320/PB300149.JPG" width="209" /></a></div><br />
We also got started on a mini brown bear coloring book that will end up in our tot book at the end of this week<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm4PSpdJv5QjbmihJI_bYVQyYpgNgWYiEXLBgQ6qp601R9jba-ItYkrv-Rgp_7j0Vy0ApK_tpIkU44DkpWaS4FLx8oJW0mZZiZOjKSVaO7JyseN2FhyphenhyphenLJACKshJumkdJF9QRhhciV0W1jC/s1600/PB300116.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm4PSpdJv5QjbmihJI_bYVQyYpgNgWYiEXLBgQ6qp601R9jba-ItYkrv-Rgp_7j0Vy0ApK_tpIkU44DkpWaS4FLx8oJW0mZZiZOjKSVaO7JyseN2FhyphenhyphenLJACKshJumkdJF9QRhhciV0W1jC/s320/PB300116.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhujCLse_Xinxm4WxkdY78tx_1HGvrFUR8tfzDkwSG4faZDDfA6UfWanVq4gTFYWqqD-K5-zBAgZj36YY377pMmPR4Q0-1324Y6edGo3xGUdxxCwF3mY2Yi_MA3BAI_jDFmCd-wjb5NvyKB/s1600/PB300141.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhujCLse_Xinxm4WxkdY78tx_1HGvrFUR8tfzDkwSG4faZDDfA6UfWanVq4gTFYWqqD-K5-zBAgZj36YY377pMmPR4Q0-1324Y6edGo3xGUdxxCwF3mY2Yi_MA3BAI_jDFmCd-wjb5NvyKB/s320/PB300141.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
As well as played with these number cards. Owen doesn't really count with me (although he counts with his daddy, I think) but I often hear him "counting"... Usually it goes "three, four, five, nine.." and thats about it. so cute ;) Both the number cards and the coloring book can also be found on the <a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/BrowBearBrownBear.html">1+1+1=1 website here</a>. If you are wondering, the #9 card is too dirty from lunch to be displayed here ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMPKsazHO_GiZQMf481OEZNjShyphenhyphenFLddMcKe1wK6NGlHi1H3qO02CDgz7x5JUyTdZYj4UjdlQW5DLWPhfoMorui1tKNgWjgRjBtJNkAYW9LlrnjhkKI4BGM7maaRZqX9jBe2h0jxPUve8Vt/s1600/PB300145.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMPKsazHO_GiZQMf481OEZNjShyphenhyphenFLddMcKe1wK6NGlHi1H3qO02CDgz7x5JUyTdZYj4UjdlQW5DLWPhfoMorui1tKNgWjgRjBtJNkAYW9LlrnjhkKI4BGM7maaRZqX9jBe2h0jxPUve8Vt/s320/PB300145.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
All in all, I think it was a successful day--Owen was so happy to have so much brown bear stuff to play with! I really enjoyed to have an easy theme to work with... I liked working it around the book and hope I can come up with other book-themes in the future!<br />
<a href="http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/TotSchool.html" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Tot School" border="0" src="http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv250/carisafrank/Blog%20Buttons/totschool150.jpg" /></a><a border="0" href="http://www.mydeliciousambiguity.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://i742.photobucket.com/albums/xx63/deliciousambiguityblog/tot_tuesdays.jpg" /></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"></div>alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-5929777731662914492010-11-30T06:00:00.003-06:002010-11-30T08:31:28.335-06:00And plans change...I had dreamed up a bunch of body-themed activities to do this week but I think they will be scrapped! First of all, I have a suspicion that Owen knows all the body parts, even the ones that I thought he didn't know (I brought out a picture of a hand and he named it immediately!) which would be fine, I was going to do the activities anyway, but man, this kid is seriously obsessed with Brown Bear. Sooooo, I spent naptime coming up with some Brown Bear things for daddy to print out and today we will do some other stuff. Here is what we did today:<br />
<br />
Filled the sink with water and tons of bubbles! I thought it would be a hit since he loves waterplay so much, but he was kind of nervous (I think) about being up on that chair. (note: those dishes on the counter??? they are actually clean... instead of putting them away like a self-respecting mama, I just moved them to the counter.)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJxFuSwoIlC-Gs_LPVSEZrP7SfjV3CzwJ38iA2Oe7V0XvlHCys1Ycre2uJRTJxPPnrae2gO1a2dJVqNODDLxX5a9yJW5nt8kGHCeJA4WRqzPWXM94rKMO5VuwSIzgSlnWyp-mNdBerfjjp/s1600/PB290070.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJxFuSwoIlC-Gs_LPVSEZrP7SfjV3CzwJ38iA2Oe7V0XvlHCys1Ycre2uJRTJxPPnrae2gO1a2dJVqNODDLxX5a9yJW5nt8kGHCeJA4WRqzPWXM94rKMO5VuwSIzgSlnWyp-mNdBerfjjp/s320/PB290070.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
so we brought the water and bubbles down to the floor and it was perfect ;)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdA8Xrp3PopP2lGApBY1fyp04BAR2acuZ5t4v8zgu8bQp930RJ9DuMZ4BSoHwNXUKjAcpnevUyR-kF7IdhYC2snpmRso62OqXAm3kk8KTCJUlHEmNhCwsKRWPZlD62VldZ6X8VFrHRtITm/s1600/PB290083.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdA8Xrp3PopP2lGApBY1fyp04BAR2acuZ5t4v8zgu8bQp930RJ9DuMZ4BSoHwNXUKjAcpnevUyR-kF7IdhYC2snpmRso62OqXAm3kk8KTCJUlHEmNhCwsKRWPZlD62VldZ6X8VFrHRtITm/s320/PB290083.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
later, I brought up our plastic swimming pool and filled it with snow! I thought this would be so much fun... I would like to say that the reason I didn't get us geared up to play outside was because it was raining, but in honesty, I had no idea it was raining. I just didn't want to play outside, so I brought the play to us. I also filled up squirt bottles with water that had food coloring in it and sprayed the water to make it fun colored.<br />
<br />
But... he didn't really like it. Perhaps because it was near naptime or he was hungry... Perhaps because I couldn't find his mittens (who taught him the word "cold?" he sure used it appropriately).. But it wasn't as fun as I had hoped. Eventually a mixing spoon *kind of* got him playing along. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnYFGzzM8Rd-Yw_iGHB0MOkg_H3NjFxnrpeEB_qfPlW8S6wqUNMGZCrfNc9EzOxtKcXMjZijQTcNvfx57Mg-JZsWxftTzyI9Vw2RhmxmiOKLlgQ4bjbbCrjKalSkLd8J4_RdoN3D8vjOnU/s1600/PB290088.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnYFGzzM8Rd-Yw_iGHB0MOkg_H3NjFxnrpeEB_qfPlW8S6wqUNMGZCrfNc9EzOxtKcXMjZijQTcNvfx57Mg-JZsWxftTzyI9Vw2RhmxmiOKLlgQ4bjbbCrjKalSkLd8J4_RdoN3D8vjOnU/s320/PB290088.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>While he did that, I was scooping snow with a cup. I imagine it would be so fun for an older kid to make a snow castle (instead of a sand castle). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoJODzmhKpC_TEEZhKKkTRhP2xjkZZkVNwCWVNi_qtQyS7uCCCS1PZS3V2Qmj3i1aCgiWi-hOhPJHP-YsqOCAKJq26Zf6wGjKaeE1qkeZu8_bNUf3w1_yz8SjBy8V0qjC5NlyN641cf5qH/s1600/PB290096.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="231" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoJODzmhKpC_TEEZhKKkTRhP2xjkZZkVNwCWVNi_qtQyS7uCCCS1PZS3V2Qmj3i1aCgiWi-hOhPJHP-YsqOCAKJq26Zf6wGjKaeE1qkeZu8_bNUf3w1_yz8SjBy8V0qjC5NlyN641cf5qH/s320/PB290096.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>finally, Owen showed me what he really wanted to do, which was take his books off the shelf, one by one, and read them. and we did. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUN3zyJe8gB4GA6a9HH_mf6ODuNpD3OB0S0Xkc3mHGx70hjGvlSBm7ahCphW-DNSLm3epfeFS-SmG1KQg8QyEFi0rd9IZKc1THXWMEWY8tgAMjoPjm1kOBT5Jzn7EIyYJ-II7POswQ-OUv/s1600/PB290056.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUN3zyJe8gB4GA6a9HH_mf6ODuNpD3OB0S0Xkc3mHGx70hjGvlSBm7ahCphW-DNSLm3epfeFS-SmG1KQg8QyEFi0rd9IZKc1THXWMEWY8tgAMjoPjm1kOBT5Jzn7EIyYJ-II7POswQ-OUv/s320/PB290056.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />

This week there is no theme. I was contemplating making my own theme but I decided to just keep it simple and put in some foods he doesn't normally eat. So we have turkey, apple slices, bran flakes, raisins, cheese, and tomatoes. Oh, the excitement, its killing me! (note the sarcasm...)<br />

On a totally unrelated note, we checked out the Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? book from the library this weekend and Owen is absolutely obsessed with it. He carries it around saying "brow bea" constantly and I am quite certain it has been read at least 15 times per day. I know there are tons of ideas on the internets about activities to do with the book, but I was wondering what you might have done or if you have any suggestions! thanks ;)alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-31580226900192466332010-11-28T06:00:00.011-06:002010-12-12T10:39:10.755-06:00DIY Advent Calendar: Completed!I finished the Advent calendar. I can't say that I am 100% in love with it or satisfied but I figure it is ok for this year and I can reevaluate it next year. <br />

Here are all of the ornaments:<br />

If you feel intimidated by having so much to do, remember, you only have to make the ornament for the next day--you don't have to make them all at once!<br />

If you want your whole house to smell delicious and everyone to love your cranberries, this is the recipe for you!<br />
<br />
Ingredients: 1 lemon, lime and orange; 12 oz. cranberries; 16 oz. frozen strawberries in sugar (thawed); 1 C. red wine; 1 C sugar<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJC0HLkuEML1pGvJpzXRinosK3UXf92IfJOdB9pZWnBlhN4uYo-BGt6lsyTLQcCCi5Jg7QxnXd1Ri38pKburRhRwVsr7kVgAvmv92vcmigBPauYeFgPjgc0dQyw_9GfoCxO_LBiujaFmn/s1600/PB240421.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjQJC0HLkuEML1pGvJpzXRinosK3UXf92IfJOdB9pZWnBlhN4uYo-BGt6lsyTLQcCCi5Jg7QxnXd1Ri38pKburRhRwVsr7kVgAvmv92vcmigBPauYeFgPjgc0dQyw_9GfoCxO_LBiujaFmn/s320/PB240421.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>note: I used plain strawberries because they were what they sold at Target and I did not feel I needed extra sugar in this recipe when I tasted it. <br />
<br />
First, measure out the wine and pour some for yourself because you deserve it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkM0CIy4Aq3zTIKkEHTiaSR9wRdnL0S9uHy6FPFuLoNO6c5lb_2_kMSo0TmbwW9jyHrVv7pS2sG3a_jFXt3_ukEHsBXltg5Y5TlUmlMYz0FUE2TfygZqSydH7B_VU_P24FPk63ww1p1rla/s1600/PB240427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkM0CIy4Aq3zTIKkEHTiaSR9wRdnL0S9uHy6FPFuLoNO6c5lb_2_kMSo0TmbwW9jyHrVv7pS2sG3a_jFXt3_ukEHsBXltg5Y5TlUmlMYz0FUE2TfygZqSydH7B_VU_P24FPk63ww1p1rla/s320/PB240427.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>Next, grate 1 tsp. each of lemon and lime rind, and 1/2 tsp. orange rind.<br />

Once the mixture boils, reduce to medium for 15 minutes or until the sauce thickens.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjxtdpzWx7YrLtUnbu_y7NhLAraHrG6n5fUQgEScL53QW2HQebNt7b4u_MhtJhqCi_6TOTBXhOyZ79xokOHQKp8f2NIED6RQF242zU7pM2FTUWaknk_IA98OTvS5HnyGuCb4Q-CHyS7JMZ/s1600/PB240006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjxtdpzWx7YrLtUnbu_y7NhLAraHrG6n5fUQgEScL53QW2HQebNt7b4u_MhtJhqCi_6TOTBXhOyZ79xokOHQKp8f2NIED6RQF242zU7pM2FTUWaknk_IA98OTvS5HnyGuCb4Q-CHyS7JMZ/s320/PB240006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Stir in 3 tbsp. of lemon juice, 2 tbsp. lime juice, 1/4 C. orange juice. If you have one of those handy juicing machines, now is the time to use it. If not, cut the fruit in half, jam a fork into it, and squeeze the juice into a bowl. If any seeds end up in the bowl, remove them.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij7pPL5qMoVVcvqWFbdN-rP-5X_PXZVEDUfnyaoTNKQf6CrMVS2V2GU0yKR6QZZsVF-H9T_0G7nCJNXo9ENAvYhBlNsNfinyp9HXIefd0VEfQF_ts93qfPo7zuTw5WVsRXHq5xPNxwUvTb/s1600/PB240002.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEij7pPL5qMoVVcvqWFbdN-rP-5X_PXZVEDUfnyaoTNKQf6CrMVS2V2GU0yKR6QZZsVF-H9T_0G7nCJNXo9ENAvYhBlNsNfinyp9HXIefd0VEfQF_ts93qfPo7zuTw5WVsRXHq5xPNxwUvTb/s320/PB240002.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Spoon the mixture into a serving bowl and refrigerate for at least four hours. And actually spoon it in. I poured it in, and it splattered everywhere. <br />

Unphotographed steps:<br />
1. Ignore that your son is chasing the dog around the house threatening him with his ball popper.<br />
2. Realizing that you haven't had breakfast or lunch and the wine is going straight to your head....<br />
<br />
PS. The cranberries may turn your wood spoon red ;)<br />
<br />
Happy Thanksgiving!<br />

We made another contact paper craft; I cut out shapes of a house, trees, sun and had Owen help put them onto the contact paper. He loves to help "pat, pat, PAT!" (if that makes no sense to you, he helps "pat" the papers down.) I had put double sided tape onto the windows and doors to get them to stick. We had a lot of fun putting the cotton snow down. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOMe1BzPxpMd4hx8_aGnHXcyt8d6-HHgOQtQm0HrzP5ihSrSVfAWohOTnWzs6G6QIilr3GGZ4hO9ms70k-g8_JspzEyh-qY7j2V3yg7-hmdg2JualDTI8GexHpUI45wFnvJ0j0Xju4x-k-/s1600/PB230445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOMe1BzPxpMd4hx8_aGnHXcyt8d6-HHgOQtQm0HrzP5ihSrSVfAWohOTnWzs6G6QIilr3GGZ4hO9ms70k-g8_JspzEyh-qY7j2V3yg7-hmdg2JualDTI8GexHpUI45wFnvJ0j0Xju4x-k-/s320/PB230445.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>I wanted to put this up on the wall next to the <a href="http://at-home-adventures.blogspot.com/2010/11/turkey-turkey.html">house from yesterday</a>, but knew from our experience with the <a href="http://at-home-adventures.blogspot.com/2010/11/redredredredred.html">red collage </a>that Owen was going to touch it and get his fingers stuck to the page and get dog hair on it and pull off the shapes and just make a big mess. soooo... I put saran wrap on it. Weird, I know. And probably there was a better solution but that was the one I tried. So here is our saran-wrapped finished product:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkmi8wQ18RBa_efmXY2SPrW0h62t7NRbxO69mDoJpRpOLftlziDBNl73HdpLQ2RsY8lkU-enAysK66U-y_3ambWipa6KlATPgez8AUtymSNEX9BvAdPguQAI4gOv28tqsBw-tjM5QG_5eY/s1600/PB230443.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkmi8wQ18RBa_efmXY2SPrW0h62t7NRbxO69mDoJpRpOLftlziDBNl73HdpLQ2RsY8lkU-enAysK66U-y_3ambWipa6KlATPgez8AUtymSNEX9BvAdPguQAI4gOv28tqsBw-tjM5QG_5eY/s320/PB230443.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>Things that were more fun:<br />
--throwing the Parmesan container<br />
--running with the Parmesan container<br />
--chasing the dog with the Parmesan container<br />
--getting tiny boy fingers stuck in the holes of the Parmesan container (several times, lol). <br />
--leaving straws all over the house<br />
Anyway, hope you are having fun getting ready for Thanksgiving tomorrow! If I am lucky maybe we will do another fun craft. OH, and I should definitely post my MIL's sangria cranberries recipe. YUM.alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-19810175794881175452010-11-23T06:00:00.002-06:002010-11-23T09:11:37.797-06:00turkey turkey!So I decided that I <i>had</i> to do a hand turkey craft with Owen after seeing a blogger (ack, I don't remember who) saying they do them every year to see the hand grow. I really loved <a href="http://katherinemariephotography.com/blog/archives/7375">this</a> turkey craft and decided to do it. I was shocked by how tiny Owen's hand is!!! I had planned on decorating the fingers with pompoms because we don't have feathers but the pompoms were way too big! So I cut the hair off of the pompoms and had Owen help me glue them down.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzIOPZAuSYO2Nm_BkcTcvSHBiH-TP-bI2UVgDjrvJjGf_lMX9svmIs0YgJ2DsyS8mUcwZX-1CGg9_gr_QAWW9KZ1Ic8gOSUkikJz5uTq46fxK5OPDedKQ0LN4s2techBwHa44_L-X86KGI/s1600/PB220443.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzIOPZAuSYO2Nm_BkcTcvSHBiH-TP-bI2UVgDjrvJjGf_lMX9svmIs0YgJ2DsyS8mUcwZX-1CGg9_gr_QAWW9KZ1Ic8gOSUkikJz5uTq46fxK5OPDedKQ0LN4s2techBwHa44_L-X86KGI/s320/PB220443.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
Well thats about as far as we got as a group project, he was not interested in helping, so I just got out my gluegun instead and finished it off myself. And then I made another one for Owen to play with because he sure ain't touching mine! Ha. who said crafts were for the kids? <br />
<br />
Some other things we did today:<br />
--<a href="http://at-home-adventures.blogspot.com/2010/11/one-box-many-uses.html">these fun house activities I posted about yesterday<br />
</a><br />
--we took a walk outside and down the street pointing at the other houses, trees and snow on the street. We also looked in the windows of our house. Owen definitely has house, tree and door down; window--not so much.<br />
<br />
--since crayons really aren't that fun for Owen to color with (he's just not that good at them) I got out a pastel set and had him color a picture I drew of a house and trees. It was fun, but a warning is that pastels are pretty messy and they break when dropped. Sure are fun, though! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo0QbRFtDpUigCILlenWOgNhh_s6J-01-KwM5obb2n7bbAiolZdjrsgO78XlxTmVxlIoVceJIaeG5H0JgR27BnLl2qshlUPbXf6ssr4lLGrbyaUg62zfpG5QB1otieqQKJb_BuMk0JZLQ_/s1600/PB220437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="274" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo0QbRFtDpUigCILlenWOgNhh_s6J-01-KwM5obb2n7bbAiolZdjrsgO78XlxTmVxlIoVceJIaeG5H0JgR27BnLl2qshlUPbXf6ssr4lLGrbyaUg62zfpG5QB1otieqQKJb_BuMk0JZLQ_/s320/PB220437.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We hung the picture on the wall. Since I didn't have anything to "fix" the color with to prevent tiny hands from smudging it all over I took two page protectors (like from a binder) and put the picture in them. Instant frame! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrT8uJguvx4PcLMCjRUpDqt4LZlIXP-W65bBM0WEXT98C1-EZ2jErGC3Gj8EJyE1i3x82Dzc3mjcYEK9iCpVwIWbzKSssQt7zO5cJ46vrtKZXCCSut67QDlhsjFfx5dsX3z600E3hPAXO8/s1600/PB220441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrT8uJguvx4PcLMCjRUpDqt4LZlIXP-W65bBM0WEXT98C1-EZ2jErGC3Gj8EJyE1i3x82Dzc3mjcYEK9iCpVwIWbzKSssQt7zO5cJ46vrtKZXCCSut67QDlhsjFfx5dsX3z600E3hPAXO8/s320/PB220441.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-70610610376015143702010-11-22T14:36:00.001-06:002010-11-24T14:59:10.745-06:00Muffin Tin Monday!This week's theme is Thanksgiving, and I was wracking my brain to come up with something I could do with food we already had. So I made a turkey! It kind of looks like a severed hand, no? Anyway, the contents are bread body, turkey dog feathers, pretzel head, raisin eyes, cheese cracker beak, and turkey pepperoni wattle. I was just putting a small amount of cheese and grapes in the other sections because Owen is in that barely eating toddler phase and I noticed I could make little flowers out of them. So there is no symbolism there, just cuteness ;)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXrgmA3y_r3OJZ0kzt2XxXvd78VueRJoG0LS862RWOoVWlc-5kneS5oYc31vYEW6jmcoKVZBtrpkmrKnOeX6qUNMo7ACJbmU_GnYLcBoyhPF3X_XHHfasY5_tjjUjd66xL-u8Cu062e4m6/s1600/PB220437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXrgmA3y_r3OJZ0kzt2XxXvd78VueRJoG0LS862RWOoVWlc-5kneS5oYc31vYEW6jmcoKVZBtrpkmrKnOeX6qUNMo7ACJbmU_GnYLcBoyhPF3X_XHHfasY5_tjjUjd66xL-u8Cu062e4m6/s320/PB220437.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>He actually ate a lot of it, success!<br />

I had a very hard time figuring out what I wanted to do.. I wanted it to be cute and colorful as well as meaningful. Also, I didn't want to have to buy any supplies. Well, I just so happen to have a ton of felt because I am working on <a href="http://kimboscrafts.blogspot.com/2010/05/car-mat.html">this awesome car mat</a> and I decided to do my own take on<a href="http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2007/11/advent-calendar.html"> this advent calendar.</a> But... I didn't want to do any sewing of any kind and had a few other ideas in mind. So I got out my glue gun and came up with this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8-2EUOpm4Ca-fhoSEBhtrnMOx-feUfT6fOGtBDlAWyPb89dmYyf5m2nJSvbj-jb3ebGubA2xNDz-5oOOUu0HCO79FKw6roXCWX_swfaXcDYvEzHAS7p8Q_ppsWHRi3n30JptctezFNpgX/s1600/PB210430.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8-2EUOpm4Ca-fhoSEBhtrnMOx-feUfT6fOGtBDlAWyPb89dmYyf5m2nJSvbj-jb3ebGubA2xNDz-5oOOUu0HCO79FKw6roXCWX_swfaXcDYvEzHAS7p8Q_ppsWHRi3n30JptctezFNpgX/s320/PB210430.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
The pocket presents are velcroed onto the picture. My plan is to make an ornament for each day that will replace the pocket so eventually the tree is made of ornaments instead of pocket presents. When I was a kid, we had a wooden calendar with presents hanging from it. The presents were ornaments for the tree and corresponded with a Bible verse for each day. I really like this idea and hope to do it as well... I have a lot of online homework to do--I only remember one or two of the ones from when I was a kid.<br />
<br />
I'm a bit of a non-perfectionist so I cut all the numbers and shapes and whatnots without tracing anything, so nothing is really even or uniform but I'm cool with it being that way. Plus, I don't like my projects taking me too long since I have the baby running around. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAidoe-FD8-Ky08TuXce3lLQgNInbtGUuFrJt9gCxbFw3XT1pmNNIhd_upAxCLDmKVknSM4df0O8X8EqJeyJ61Dcj_osc3WNHIHEKfefWBfZ1in3QEwGcZrI7KQ75JbYBvLJQLFuJSXGOs/s1600/PB210432.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjAidoe-FD8-Ky08TuXce3lLQgNInbtGUuFrJt9gCxbFw3XT1pmNNIhd_upAxCLDmKVknSM4df0O8X8EqJeyJ61Dcj_osc3WNHIHEKfefWBfZ1in3QEwGcZrI7KQ75JbYBvLJQLFuJSXGOs/s320/PB210432.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
So I love it! <br />
If you have any suggestions on where to get ideas of what to put inside let me know!alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-71932324474010506932010-11-21T06:00:00.009-06:002010-12-03T08:54:40.870-06:00One box, many usesThis week's theme is "out the window" because I suspect there are a few things out there that Owen doesn't know the name of (have we ever talked about trees? Does he know the name of a house?). I made three fun projects out of a moving box and am pretty excited about them.<br />
<br />
The first was this peekaboo house. I got the idea from <a href="http://www.icanteachmychild.com/2010/11/peek-boo-house.html?showComment=1290029582403_AIe9_BHsXgLTJvdwtPE1qf4r6-Udc8fShhu0AXFrS4P7Xm-lmERf8NxzEfLIXFWfYRqv3YehBrm51AVOXJIQYwDBaenpgUH-xmTZ9NXr1UlxeUAUq5iIFy_3I7_9xxivVxvDXOBs0EXFreqT2_3bvQBKXEdqOp_LEIb7A7gGq7lO2SFo1UHeY5cMD-ihZ_k2ak3d6xVUVW4QcFhFhDOiRGN6fuhWuj6mLI7eIjv_OUcG9EHu7YV6mi0mprrymMZPUpeBe72qamEYsr_gxbzNxZjkSVWE4oPssAfjXeJSYekNlkcqPnGHTdafFIHOItoMzoM-VqQcNX1MIp30eEVAKMIx7rPO89b_IvMPrkcb1SNPr_G5G0lce3A9nZDkNAZCaYmDlehHMOJUiLdMALn-wIXavrRFRuwlB0rY-a7APpLZiljHy3h6_UQ53IDa9BRgiRxbXIuDUOa1aQEA-oADsCnmrMDQjeOmBDUD89MBoGygzx-gL4Ey4DTeNA-7XEQ80hOr6H0PAlLiAQ9PWc1421SoL3JaohHnjI58YOuFOi82t2CXLQg_yigqSlSOuLR2JKfIVP2lArNsgUMrFm1SdWXWpgoI5p57WIYPWGhxzjwgzRHJ5LN3pzbpmOdzCUKNyqNZfuIs7d-HrsmceO_2QeRtxBumiCNGBWDGT5oeRWiK8L-o1UaVQ7tAfMqnR73n1lFVbhtixVpHMe2OLDvmVVarXRWRzmrIbzVgfGDz5fmDr8QOHtSJ00c#c4832546259438507167">this post at I Can Teach My Child</a>. It was fun and easy to make (although if you make it, make sure to put the pictures down before you put on the windows... so hard the other way!)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUtM_MyvPK0DJJKn-iViXVKGSMQG4KHCPPPiA84GGq4Kws_P8QLu4dBJxm6H_vXH3-LnRqNQd9z6f7OCi1i83gCt6MK7nlwj_x0E-hPI9v_LYkaCaCiyoxFVjHhVdH7-p4T2ke3fpOT1WO/s1600/PB210447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUtM_MyvPK0DJJKn-iViXVKGSMQG4KHCPPPiA84GGq4Kws_P8QLu4dBJxm6H_vXH3-LnRqNQd9z6f7OCi1i83gCt6MK7nlwj_x0E-hPI9v_LYkaCaCiyoxFVjHhVdH7-p4T2ke3fpOT1WO/s320/PB210447.JPG" width="277" /></a></div>Inside the windows are pictures of his grandparents and his parents. Owen loves looking at it and naming them. And opening all the "doors." Next up: learning that a window is not a door ;) "door, door, door, door"<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigN_-UupaWwgPWuLi8JwYhLuwEu6IxkVu6XSPhiwu0b2gyWkmSVJpv_QWiVMYv7mRREfriRuYmzt0Ql9ilXYar0Kz0U_PcL2HLog4O-iADLZn8OZwEjxGAFbz2sdeAJiOLeBEWV90YLE3C/s1600/PB210446.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEigN_-UupaWwgPWuLi8JwYhLuwEu6IxkVu6XSPhiwu0b2gyWkmSVJpv_QWiVMYv7mRREfriRuYmzt0Ql9ilXYar0Kz0U_PcL2HLog4O-iADLZn8OZwEjxGAFbz2sdeAJiOLeBEWV90YLE3C/s320/PB210446.JPG" width="317" /></a></div><br />
Then I decided it would be fun to have a flannel board. There are tons of tutorials out there so I'm not going to go into depth with this, but I basically duct-taped two pieces of cardboard together, repurposed a receiving blanket by hot-gluing it onto the cardboard, and duct taped the ends onto the back. Easy peasy flannel board. At the time, I didn't have any felt so I cut out shapes to make a house, trees, etc and reinforced them with packing tape. To make them stick, I tore off the velcro tabs on Owen's disposable diapers and taped them onto the back. Oh, and the cotton is snow! I plan on propping this up by the window and comparing what is on the board to what is outside.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGALx9CUzsr4roT3RmjMFf2hP3fgV18oxsujChLXvPToD9oKiD2oLhah-nJZCe8hcwGL_BX0asenpLMnz5ZqRHhWkRSnE7zBKaRU0rpt65Y-pygWKxrnSjaCtTfiiFWQkCVHe6GrWIzdUf/s1600/PB210449.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGALx9CUzsr4roT3RmjMFf2hP3fgV18oxsujChLXvPToD9oKiD2oLhah-nJZCe8hcwGL_BX0asenpLMnz5ZqRHhWkRSnE7zBKaRU0rpt65Y-pygWKxrnSjaCtTfiiFWQkCVHe6GrWIzdUf/s320/PB210449.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
So then I saw that I had the rest of this box and was wondering what to do with it. Well I turned it into a house. Fun! I did not spend much time on it because I know it will be destroyed within the next day or two, but I made a roof and cut doors and windows.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7fAIStIApJlvmtlvXfaH3JwGQ3IX11j894qZBNfq1AO-bPdGA_SX8waFN38GinAo4fZ2Lob7q-GMLcvuHD51DVTr0qRJRMzvuFhhmMMgZRYoVnYpj5YGdBSKxV70iiQZj6WtvjRpGjq1o/s1600/PB210442.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7fAIStIApJlvmtlvXfaH3JwGQ3IX11j894qZBNfq1AO-bPdGA_SX8waFN38GinAo4fZ2Lob7q-GMLcvuHD51DVTr0qRJRMzvuFhhmMMgZRYoVnYpj5YGdBSKxV70iiQZj6WtvjRpGjq1o/s320/PB210442.JPG" width="239" /></a></div>From the inside of the house, I drew pictures of what you can see out the window; one of the pictures resembles what our picture window looks like. <br />

From the outside, you can open the tabs and see inside the house.. I used some pictures of Dora and Diego that my husband prints out every once in a while. I just missed taking a picture of Owen trying to shove his head through the door, it was so cute, hopefully he will do it again!<br />
<br />

And there you have it, three easy things to do with one cardboard box!<br />

Tot Books are like a smaller, less complicated version of a lap book, which is basically a tool for older kids to review and reinforce learning in a fun and interesting way (they usually help make the books as well.) You can read about it more <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/lapbooking">here</a> and <a href="http://www.homeschoolingonashoestring.com/lapbooks.html">here</a>. <br />
<br />
So I decided I wanted to make a little book focusing on the things we were talking about this week. Here is what I came up with:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg29cRVk4BLGsSDZ7v1hCYI4yWKmovwciJ8LrzksdNLwQjsqKGnfiiVkF8vMrAa9FaR2nWkE5Mq8nexPYLbqfJ6kU9Mw0_KRRN9Iuril6wlMojVzKMzytzw0YFZpbpQx5g_VjrJSho9wzrs/s1600/PB200419.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="112" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg29cRVk4BLGsSDZ7v1hCYI4yWKmovwciJ8LrzksdNLwQjsqKGnfiiVkF8vMrAa9FaR2nWkE5Mq8nexPYLbqfJ6kU9Mw0_KRRN9Iuril6wlMojVzKMzytzw0YFZpbpQx5g_VjrJSho9wzrs/s320/PB200419.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Ok. So first of all, yes, I know I need to learn to take better pictures. Lets add that to my to-do list, shall we? So I cut a file folder in half and then made two folds so that it would have two sides that folded inwards. This is what the book looks like open. It is good to make the different elements fun and interesting to look at. I got some ideas <a href="http://www.squidoo.com/minibooks">here</a><br />
<br />
The section on the right is a circle folded into fourths. I drew objects that are circles in each segment, which totals 6 segments as you are opening it. I also covered all of the elements of this tot book in packing tape, because Owen loves to destroy things. That makes it difficult for this circle to stay shut, which I find frustrating.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG2rFjH7xh0M67c843oBFPb-HD6uyYvLQ_RM82oomfs9i9hgCQI8_n01zttVOwMYEbyx-pxcobwqsrP1D63IjkV2X1mLIb6qXJmXeZh4QxTJSoDocJ3nAC5gMe8Bsf7e16G8W69Fkhu806/s1600/PB200421.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiG2rFjH7xh0M67c843oBFPb-HD6uyYvLQ_RM82oomfs9i9hgCQI8_n01zttVOwMYEbyx-pxcobwqsrP1D63IjkV2X1mLIb6qXJmXeZh4QxTJSoDocJ3nAC5gMe8Bsf7e16G8W69Fkhu806/s320/PB200421.JPG" width="320" /></a></div> The middle section is a book of things that are red. Each of the blue and green pages has a different red item on it. This is Owen's favorite part of the book. He loves to turn the pages.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG4EIjqdb-z2FNOkb8SmzNKw4f6B36X63QweHBOVZgft5PVej5vWIukNa_pFJLC6EE7CU58130aDZ2QrwA7xaOowYuAIXoJvlYZTh6VBGJk-43mtQhtRZDXJHDrA-ihJWOuq_nn8ubDtJT/s1600/PB200424.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjG4EIjqdb-z2FNOkb8SmzNKw4f6B36X63QweHBOVZgft5PVej5vWIukNa_pFJLC6EE7CU58130aDZ2QrwA7xaOowYuAIXoJvlYZTh6VBGJk-43mtQhtRZDXJHDrA-ihJWOuq_nn8ubDtJT/s320/PB200424.JPG" width="320" /></a></div> Finally, I made triangle number flashcards. This is the most uninteresting part but I am sure he will grow into it ;) Daddy has taught him to count but I don't think he really knows what the numbers mean<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZti6WKFy2oAYCBWp8fFuT51tEVt42W8OHzffMfPj4yP1f07qx2fdW7JraHpX6jnmS6DjLveBFtdAOFGAjDWRF9VXcRmfNm7IGRWcNMBPvjwpbRVuqJXfGThcaw9Lcgg1-13J28Hmc8QUs/s1600/PB200425.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="197" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZti6WKFy2oAYCBWp8fFuT51tEVt42W8OHzffMfPj4yP1f07qx2fdW7JraHpX6jnmS6DjLveBFtdAOFGAjDWRF9VXcRmfNm7IGRWcNMBPvjwpbRVuqJXfGThcaw9Lcgg1-13J28Hmc8QUs/s320/PB200425.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>And there you have it, a tot book! Owen loves it, which was the goal but I still need to figure out how to make it completely toddler proof. Is that even possible??alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5756669118176706440.post-85600835484274496412010-11-19T06:00:00.002-06:002010-11-19T08:43:32.794-06:00redredredredredIn general, Owen and I are repeating the activities we do during the week so I try not to post about those. I wrote about some red activites we have done <a href="http://at-home-adventures.blogspot.com/2010/11/intro-to-red-overkill.html">here</a>. These are a few other red activities we are doing.<br />
<br />
<b>Red Collage!</b> It takes less than 15 minutes to flip through your old magazines, tear out red pictures or pages and cut (or tear) them into shapes. I found some contact paper (we bought it for the purpose of being a drawer liner) and cut a big rectangle out of it. I helped Owen put the red items onto the sticky part of the contact paper to create a red collage.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtbkiIq9meMA2i9UUFjae8dPYzKtXVXl7s5yZ5NdFPzWvhjwAr8KcWAfKoBJXAZWMIKmnq_Wnc9HaJNUYhooOgg6T7KiV44j_ZQKcerPA6e4Lt1rlsUIJEBDy_YQFveEtFsBTNV_NHxUOw/s1600/PB180457.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtbkiIq9meMA2i9UUFjae8dPYzKtXVXl7s5yZ5NdFPzWvhjwAr8KcWAfKoBJXAZWMIKmnq_Wnc9HaJNUYhooOgg6T7KiV44j_ZQKcerPA6e4Lt1rlsUIJEBDy_YQFveEtFsBTNV_NHxUOw/s320/PB180457.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwDOkEAA_S3xWq3Lx1DcPnYu4CgCtTNdLKOw6XxK03ll-0bPNo1QlTYQTNGMyY-SiEk_ME8ecT7GArYw31uaJeleXMj_BMHbTsceD6hLfYjGuqF6QsdFAT9v72opiJ3iJbE5Xe0s0zyvZF/s1600/PB180469.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="239" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwDOkEAA_S3xWq3Lx1DcPnYu4CgCtTNdLKOw6XxK03ll-0bPNo1QlTYQTNGMyY-SiEk_ME8ecT7GArYw31uaJeleXMj_BMHbTsceD6hLfYjGuqF6QsdFAT9v72opiJ3iJbE5Xe0s0zyvZF/s320/PB180469.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We hung it up in his toy closet, where we will hang other color creations in the future. <i>ok, I should have been more thoughtul... The placement of this picture made Owen very angry since he couldn't reach it. I moved it to a lower position that he can see at eye level and he is loving looking at it now.</i><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBIXST_9SokayN0iPuvxUas1hyQEfNLY7ymdjLLQYjF0kTK9dwn5_oQWhtECa4n4egKxDD4dzgYWVBdznxS0B_LF1QlxNKjSr2h6_fodlDHwSXZ7xvmdNdvJFEKNNW5L8KA42scdQ35pqX/s1600/PB180468.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBIXST_9SokayN0iPuvxUas1hyQEfNLY7ymdjLLQYjF0kTK9dwn5_oQWhtECa4n4egKxDD4dzgYWVBdznxS0B_LF1QlxNKjSr2h6_fodlDHwSXZ7xvmdNdvJFEKNNW5L8KA42scdQ35pqX/s320/PB180468.JPG" width="239" /></a></div><br />
I also spent about five minutes <b>drawing pictures of red items and made a small book</b>. I added a wagon, t-shirt, apple, car, elmo and a truck. I did not write any words, mostly because I am lazy... I read it to him in the style of the book "Brown Bear" (Red wagon, red wagon, what do you see? I see a red shirt looking at me, etc.) I was surprised that he really enjoyed the book because it seemed boring to me. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgik9ih3hjcuVn-Cc8OgrmvXw1vIJAckNag6uh4H02u4KAswXNroArJKIirJ4fS3S_rM865gP4POPySYSaZU3D2X0yGY0mkJlXm2eZ8nxlEBVjeFbDZlOj5pubs73bZTBYKVafJAtW94Vtj/s1600/PB180418.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgik9ih3hjcuVn-Cc8OgrmvXw1vIJAckNag6uh4H02u4KAswXNroArJKIirJ4fS3S_rM865gP4POPySYSaZU3D2X0yGY0mkJlXm2eZ8nxlEBVjeFbDZlOj5pubs73bZTBYKVafJAtW94Vtj/s320/PB180418.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We also did some <b>cooking </b>(Owen stirring up ingredients + food coloring), <b>played with red (and not red) cars</b>, read some <b>red books</b>, and.. thats about it. Sometime this weekend I might <b>freeze some red ice cubes </b>and let him play with them in the tub or in the kitchen with bowls of water. He did some water play yesterday for almost an hour, which is pretty incredible amount of time to keep a toddler interested. Yes, everything got wet, but the cleanup was remarkably easier than anything else we do.alisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11138373940960898608noreply@blogger.com0
